Course Curation
This specialist runs in chat and as a node you can add to a workflow for repeatable, scheduled runs. See the Agent Catalog for how the two relate.
Overview
Course Curation turns a skills need into a shortlist of courses to take. Describe someone's current skills and where they need to grow, and Ellie recommends the most relevant courses, each with a short rationale for why it fits and what the learner will walk away with.
The recommendations draw on your organization's course catalog — Ellie matches the skill needs you describe against the courses available to you, so what comes back is grounded in real, takeable options rather than generic suggestions. It ranks them by relevance, impact, and how they fit into a sensible learning sequence.
Reach for this when you're building development plans, following up a Skill Gap Analysis, or turning a team's priority skills into concrete learning. It's the step that moves people from "here's the gap" to "here's what to enroll in."
What you'll need
- The person's or team's current skills. Attach a profile, paste a skills list, or point Ellie at people whose profiles already live in your organization.
- The skills to build. The gaps or target competencies you want the courses to address. If you've just run a skill gap analysis, that output is ideal input.
- Optional context. Time constraints, a career objective, or a preferred focus area to steer the ranking.
How to ask
Ask for courses against a set of gaps.
Recommend courses to close the skill gaps for our Finance analysts. Their
current skills and target competencies are attached.
Chain it off a gap analysis.
Based on the missing skills you just identified for this employee, recommend
courses to close them, in a sensible order.
Steer by objective.
Suggest courses to help this team move into data-driven roles, prioritizing
practical, foundational courses first.
What you get
A curated recommendation you can act on:
- User profile analysis — a short read of current strengths and the highest-impact gaps to address.
- Recommendation strategy — how the shortlist was chosen and the sequence to take courses in.
- Recommended courses — a table of courses, each a clickable link, with a description of how it fits the skill and the key learning outcomes.
In chat, the course list also comes back as a downloadable spreadsheet so you can share it or drop it into a learning plan. Run as a workflow node, Course Curation produces the same structured recommendation as an exportable report.
Tips
- Give Ellie the specific gaps, not just a job title — targeted needs produce a targeted shortlist.
- Run Skill Gap Analysis first, then feed its missing-skills list straight in.
- Mention constraints like available time or budget so the ranking favors realistic options.
- Recommendations reflect the courses in your catalog, so keeping the catalog current keeps the suggestions relevant.
- Build a workflow that runs a gap analysis and course curation back to back to generate development plans in one pass.
