Job Profile Extraction
This specialist runs in chat and as a node you can add to a workflow for repeatable, scheduled runs. See the Agent Catalog for how the two relate.
Overview
Job profiles live inside documents — formal job descriptions, competency frameworks, role handbooks. Job Profile Extraction reads a document you attach and pulls each profile out into a clean, structured list.
Ellie captures one row per job profile, along with the details it finds: the title and code, description, department, classification, level, prerequisites, required skills, and associated tasks. It even captures task content when it's laid out in tables.
Everything comes straight from the document — Ellie extracts only what's explicitly there, never inferring, and leaves a field blank when the detail is missing. If you ask without attaching anything, it will simply prompt you to add a document.
What you'll need
- A document describing one or more job profiles — a job description, framework, or role handbook. Word, PDF, spreadsheet, or plain text all work.
- Attach the file or add it as context. See Using files in chat and workflows for how attachments work.
How to ask
Attach the document, then ask Ellie to extract the profiles.
Extract everything in a framework:
Extract all the job profiles from the attached role framework into a table.
Make sure task detail is captured:
Pull the job profiles from this document, including the full task tables
for each role.
What you get
A downloadable spreadsheet with one row per job profile and columns for:
- Title and code
- Description and department
- Category, subcategory, and industry
- Level and prerequisites
- Required skills and tasks
Task tables from the source are captured in the tasks column, and blank fields mean the detail wasn't in the document.
Tips
- Clearly separated profiles and consistent headings produce the cleanest extraction.
- Nothing is invented — a blank field means the information wasn't present.
- Mention task tables in your prompt if you want to be sure every row is captured.
- Review the list before importing it, or run Job Profile Harmonization to consolidate overlapping profiles.
