Job Profile Harmonization
This specialist runs in chat and as a node you can add to a workflow for repeatable, scheduled runs. See the Agent Catalog for how the two relate.
Overview
Job catalogs sprawl. The same role picks up different titles across departments, near-identical profiles multiply, and it becomes hard to see how many distinct roles you actually have. Job Profile Harmonization reviews a set of profiles and recommends a cleaner structure.
Ellie sorts your profiles into three groups: those to consolidate (overlapping profiles that should be merged under one title), those to maintain as they are, and those to discard. Each recommendation includes a reason, so the rationale is visible.
The analysis stays conservative. Ellie works only from the profiles you provide and never invents titles, attributes, or relationships. It only proposes a merge when responsibilities, required skills, or seniority clearly overlap, and it flags missing or ambiguous data rather than guessing.
What you'll need
- A list of your current job profiles — a spreadsheet, a catalog export, or the profiles you produced with Job Profile Extraction. Attach it to the conversation or add it as context.
- Profiles that include responsibilities, required skills, and seniority give the strongest results, because those are the attributes Ellie compares when deciding what to merge.
How to ask
Point Ellie at your profile list and say what you want reviewed.
Find and merge overlapping roles:
Attached is our job profile catalog. Which profiles overlap enough to
merge, and which should we keep or retire?
Consolidate a large, duplicated catalog:
We have 120 job titles and suspect heavy duplication. Consolidate the
attached profiles and suggest a merged title for each group.
Compare on specific attributes:
Compare the attached profiles by responsibilities and seniority, and
recommend a consolidated role structure.
What you get
A Job Profile Harmonization report in four parts:
- Job Profiles to Consolidate — groups of overlapping profiles, the profiles in each group, a suggested merged title, and the reason for merging.
- Job Profiles to Maintain — profiles to keep as they are, with their department and why they stay.
- Job Profiles to Discard — profiles recommended for removal, each with a reason.
- Verdict and Summary — a short written assessment of the overall consolidation and its impact.
Tips
- Include responsibilities, required skills, and seniority in your list; merges are only proposed where these clearly overlap.
- Provide the full catalog in one pass so duplication across the whole set can be spotted.
- Treat the output as a recommendation. Check merged titles against your naming conventions before applying them.
- Missing or ambiguous data is flagged rather than resolved automatically, so review those notes.
- Run Job Profile Extraction first if your profiles still live inside source documents.
